WATCH: Given One Last Chance, Senate Republicans REFUSE to Protect Medicaid
June 30, 2025

Republicans are hellbent on giving their billionaire donors and mega-corporations another round of tax breaks, regardless of who they have to hurt to fund them.
The GOP budget will rip away health care from nearly 17 million Americans through over $1 trillion in cuts — including the largest cut to Medicaid in American history.
These cuts will not make America healthier or stronger. With the most regressive budget in 40 years — and possibly ever — Republicans are funneling money into the pockets of Trump and the GOP’s ultra-wealthy friends while devastating the livelihoods of millions of seniors, children, and working families. The GOP has made their priorities clear: billionaires first, working families last.
WATCH: Senator Ron Wyden and Senate Democrats fighting to protect Medicaid, voting to block any cuts to Medicaid.
Senator Ron Wyden: “It is now clear that there is bipartisan opposition in the Senate to the Medicaid cuts in this bill. That’s because it’s the biggest Medicaid cut in history and represents the largest transfer of wealth in history. It is caviar over kids, hedge funds over health care, Mar-a-Lago over the middle class. … Seniors are going to lose care at home and be left with fewer nursing homes and fewer nurses. Kids with disabilities will lose health care. … Never have I seen legislation focused on denying health care to eligible Americans. This amendment is an opportunity to take these awful Medicaid cuts off the table and find another way forward.”
Republicans voted against protecting Medicaid, devastating seniors, children, rural folks, and working families across the country.
Senate Cloakroom: “Not agreed to, 47-53: Wyden motion to commit Cal. #107, H.R.1, One Big Beautiful Bill Act, to the Finance Committee with instructions. (re: Medicaid)”
