WATCH: Nikki Haley Would Sign “Any” National Abortion Ban

In response to Nikki Haley saying tonight that she would sign “anything that would pass” federally to ban abortion, DNC spokesperson Sarafina Chitika released the following statement:

“After signing an extreme abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest as governor, Nikki Haley promised to do the same nationwide and sign any ANY national abortion ban – no matter how extreme. Make no mistake – Haley is an anti-abortion extremist who would rip away reproductive freedom from every single woman in this country if she could – she’s told us so before, and she made it crystal clear again tonight.”

During tonight’s debate, Nikki Haley said she would sign any nationwide abortion ban that landed on her desk.

Kirsten Welker: “Would you support a 15-week federal limit?”

Haley: “I would support anything that would pass.”

Haley has repeatedly said she would ban abortion nationwide and rip away freedoms from women across the country if given the chance.

Haley: “Whatever we can get 60 Senate votes on, isn’t that better than what we have now? And if it’s– if it’s six weeks, that’s great. If it’s 15 weeks, that’s great.”

Haley: “So what can we do? Is there room for a federal law? I think there is room for a federal law.”

Haley: “When it comes to a federal bill, I think there is a place for that.”

It’s no surprise that Haley wants to take her anti-abortion extremism nationwide: she signed an abortion ban as governor of South Carolina that had no exceptions for rape or incest and threatened doctors with jail time.

Newsweek: “Haley described herself as ‘very pro-life’ and has spent most of her political career fighting for anti-abortion legislation, including signing a law as South Carolina governor in 2016 banning the procedure in most circumstances after 19 weeks of pregnancy unless the mother’s life is at risk.”

TIME: “The law passed the General Assembly last week and blocks women from having abortions after 19 weeks of pregnancy, with no exceptions for rape or incest… Doctors who violate the law could face a fine or jail time.”

Haley doubled down on her anti-abortion extremism after voters across the country once again soundly rejected anti-abortion extremism in yesterday’s elections – a stark warning sign for Republicans heading into 2024.
