WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: President Biden Extends Student Loan Pause, Extending Financial Relief for Million

Today, President Biden announced that he is extending the student loan pause until May 1, 2022. President Biden and Vice President Harris have taken critical steps to spur this historic economic recovery, despite being dealt an unprecedented financial crisis upon taking office. The pause on student loan repayment is another example of leadership from the Biden-Harris administration, and will provide millions of Americans the breathing room they need as the economic recovery continues. 

From educators, to civil rights leaders, to elected officials, Americans agree that President Biden and Vice President Harris are delivering much-needed relief to millions. 

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten: “Postponing #StudentDebt payments another 90 days is the right move – thanks to the @WhiteHouse for helping everyone who is struggling. The COVID variants have left us all with a lot of stress and uncertainty and extending a break in payments is a big win for borrowers everywhere.”

NAACP Legal Defense Fund: “Extending the pause on student loan repayments will provide vital relief for millions of Americans struggling under the enormous weight of student debt, and the continued economic hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
