RE: Republicans Gather to Celebrate Trump and Sky-Rocketing Prices, While Democrats Gain Momentum Ahead of the Midterms
With less than 60 days until the midterm elections, Trump and Republicans are gathering in battleground Texas for a so-called “midterm convention,” a two-day attempt to salvage Trump’s dismal approval ratings. While 95% of Americans believe we are in an affordability crisis, “Trump-a-palooza” will bring together the billionaires and large corporations who are bankrolling the disastrous policies of Trump and Republicans.
Even Republicans know this event is a terrible idea. Dozens of members are refusing to attend. Republican candidates are on defense, running away from Trump because they know Trump is historically unpopular and that voter enthusiasm is surging in favor of Democrats.
As a result of Trump’s unhinged actions and his refusal to focus on fulfilling the promises he made to Americans like lowering prices on day one and no new wars, his 2024 coalition has deeply fractured and this convention will be a stark reminder of how out of touch Republicans remain from the everyday realities of the American people. Working families are tired of the Trump administration’s skyrocketing prices, the ongoing war with Iran, attacks on healthcare, reckless tariffs, and the blatant self-dealing they are seeing.
Meanwhile, Democrats are on offense, registering new voters and hitting the trail to speak directly with people about the issues that matter most to them: lowering costs, fixing healthcare, and making life affordable.
Since Trump took office, Democrats have won nearly 90% of key elections up-and-down the ballot, including flipping 31 state legislature seats compared to zero flips for Republicans. In November, Democrats will end Republican control of Congress, win key downballot elections, and begin to deliver the change the American people want to see.
While Republicans worship an unpopular president at “Trump-a-palooza,” Democrats are:
In Dallas, Calling Out Trump and his Republican Allies
On Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10, Democrats from across the country will come together to host press conferences in Dallas to lay out how Trump and Republicans have made life harder and more expensive for working families while they enrich themselves and their wealthy donors. They’ll also outline why the American people are poised to elect Democrats up-and-down the ballot while delivering a clear rebuke of the MAGA agenda.
The DNC will use its significant presence online and through surrogates at all levels to highlight the harm and cost Trump has inflicted on the American people, like we do every day. The DNC commands a social media following of 13.7M — an audience that has more than doubled since 2024 with much of our growth coming from vertical-first platforms like TikTok, where we recently surpassed 5.7M followers. During the midterm convention, @FactPostNews will clip and post the speeches and on-camera activity. FactPost’s clips and news posts have generated over 2.1B impressions on Threads, X, Facebook, IG, TikTok, and Bluesky in 2026 alone.
Additionally, the DNC’s Influencer & Creative Partnerships network will work to reach their over 165 million cumulative followers with clips and messaging about the midterm convention.
The DNC is also launching a mini-documentary highlighting how Texans, from a rancher to a social worker, are facing increasing costs and struggling to make ends meet in Trump’s economy.
Registering New Democrats Across the Country
The DNC is hosting national partisan voter registration training sessions on September 9th and 10th, with more than 1,000 RSVPs from across the country expected. These trainings will prepare organizers in nearly every state to conduct partisan voter registration in their communities.
Democrats are also organizing around a Day of Action for National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 15. Democrats will mobilize across the country, host voter registration drives, and protect the right to vote by keeping voters informed and engaged.
Organizing Everywhere and Building Long-Lasting Infrastructure
The DNC is laser-focused on organizing and competing everywhere — which is already leading to Democratic victories up and down the ballot. Through innovative organizing programs, voter registration drives, and historic investments into our state parties, the DNC is ensuring Democrats have the infrastructure and resources needed to win in 2026, 2028, and beyond.
- State Partnership Program: The DNC is providing over $1 million monthly across our state parties, and an additional $5,000 per month in Republican-controlled states to help build party infrastructure and ensure Democrats are able to compete everywhere.
- When We Count: The DNC is working to train more than a hundred organizers to register tens of thousands of new voters in key battlegrounds ahead of the midterms. This is the largest-ever partisan national voter registration campaign in the DNC’s history.
- Local Listeners: The DNC worked to engage half a million infrequent voters across 61 key battleground congressional districts during the first quarter of 2026 — our most aggressive voter engagement effort at the start of a midterm year.
- NextWave Regional Bootcamps: The DNC is recruiting and training the next generation of Democratic campaign staff talent through our largest-ever in-person training program, ensuring we can recruit, train, and place organizers in battleground states.
