SHOT/CHASER: Trump Denies Asking Voters to Pretend He Was On the Ballot as White House Scrambles to Deflect Midterm Losses From Trump

SHOT: Donald Trump repeatedly told voters to “pretend I’m on the ballot” in the midterms…

  • Trump (10/1): “Pretend I’m running, please.”
  • Trump (10/5): “I am going to ask you to pretend that I’m running.”
  • Trump (10/7): “Pretend that I’m on the ballot because we get a lot more votes.”
  • Trump (10/25): “I’m asking you to pretend that I’m on the ballot.”

CHASER: … Now, Trump is whining and the White House is desperately claiming Republicans are losing because “Trump was not on the ballot” as voters across the country are rejecting Trump and JD Vance’s price-spiking agenda.

In response, DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin released the following statement:

“For months, Donald Trump toured the country and told voters to ‘pretend [he is] on the ballot’ — and now, as midterm results come in, the White House is pretending that never happened. Voters are sending a clear message tonight: They are fed up with the lies and broken promises from the Trump-Vance administration, and are electing Democrats across the country who will put working people first.”
