Statement from DNC Chair Ken Martin on Midterm Election Results

Tonight, as votes continue to be counted, Democrats have already swept races across the country, from Florida to Pennsylvania, Ohio to South Carolina, North Carolina to Georgia and Texas. Democrats won these tough races because we ran strong candidates focused on what matters most to Americans — affordability and kitchen table issues. The cost of living and corruption were the top issues for voters, which is why Democrats dominated across the map. With these victories, Democrats will enter 2028 with strong momentum to take back the White House, as the DNC continues to invest in organizing and building power across the country.

REMINDER: Despite Trump trying to deny it, this election was also a referendum on the Trump-Vance administration’s failure to keep their promises to lower costs and make life better for working families. Trump and Vance sold them out to line the pockets of billionaires and rig the system for the wealthy and well-connected.

In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“Tonight, as the votes continue to be counted, one thing is clear: American voters are putting their trust in Democrats and a working-class agenda. Our candidates, no matter where they ran, no matter how they fit into our big tent party, campaigned relentlessly on lowering costs and cleaning up Donald Trump and JD Vance’s rampant corruption. They shattered Trump and Vance’s 2024 coalition by winning back voters of color, young voters, and independents — not with empty platitudes, but by doing the hard work of organizing everywhere. Democrats earned trust one conversation, one phone call, and one door-knock at a time. Over the next two years, Democrats will show up where Republicans have failed and work every single day to bring down costs. Up next: the White House.”
