Under Donald Trump and JD Vance, the average American household has spent an additional $4,200 on goods and services. Today the national average price for a gallon of gas is $4.47, and diesel is at an all-time high of $6.53 per gallon. Americans have already shoveled out approximately $107 BILLION more on gas alone since Trump started his deadly and costly war with Iran. A staggering 61% of voters say gas prices are a major problem.
In the last 24 hours, Trump declared, “Our economy is the envy of the world,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that if it weren’t for Trump’s war with Iran, diesel prices would be “triple” what they are now, and when talking about the economy yesterday, Vance said, “There’s a lot to be positive about. There’s a lot to be proud of.”
It’s no wonder nearly two-thirds of voters say the Trump administration has made the economy worse and say that Democrats would better handle inflation and prices by a 15-percentage-point margin.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“It couldn’t be more clear: Donald Trump and JD Vance are out of touch with everyday Americans and indifferent to the financial pain they’ve caused them. Despite promising to lower prices on ‘Day One,’ Trump and Vance started a reckless trade war and another endless foreign war that has driven prices to record highs. But instead of giving working families some breathing room, Trump and Vance are turning a blind eye to their struggles and giving themselves a pat on the back – and voters have had enough.”
