Donald Trump and JD Vance’s deadly and costly war with Iran has caused gas and diesel prices to soar — costing Americans an additional $107 billion more at the pump. Today, the national average price for a gallon of gas is $4.48, and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $6.45. That’s up $1.35 for gas and $2.82 for diesel from when Trump took office in January 2025.
Since Trump and Vance took office, the average American household has spent an additional $4,200 on goods and services, including an additional $310 for groceries and an extra $833 on housing costs.
It’s no wonder consumer sentiment fell to its lowest level in four months, down 15% from January 2026, and the second-worst reading on record dating back to the 1950s. Only 27% of Americans approve of Trump on the economy, and two-thirds of Americans say Trump has worsened economic conditions.

“After promising no new foreign conflicts, Donald Trump and JD Vance dragged the country into a deadly and costly war with Iran, and now — as the war enters its eighth month — prices continue to skyrocket. Working families are drowning under the weight of skyrocketing high costs on everything from gas to groceries, but instead of providing any relief, Trump is spending his time dining with his wealthy donors and wasting billions of dollars on gilded vanity projects.”
