Today, Donald Trump will gather the world’s richest CEOs and tech executives to headline an event on his “Golden Age” economy that has made life unaffordable for working families. Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson are also expected to meet with tech CEOs later today.
Trump’s events mark the fourth time in less than a week that Trump has appeared or met with big tech billionaires, after he hosted various executives — worth a combined $2.2 trillion — at the White House last week for a lavish state dinner, and personally met with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. Many of the executives Trump is gathering with sat front row at his inauguration and have business interests influenced by his administration.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Just weeks before the midterm election, Donald Trump is once again rolling out the red carpet to tout his ‘Golden Age’ economy that has prioritized billionaires and big corporations over everyday Americans. Trump’s reckless trade war and deadly and costly war with Iran have spiked costs and left working families stretching their budgets just to make ends meet. But instead of providing them with some breathing room, Trump and Republicans continue to cater to ultra-rich elites and wealthy donors. Trump’s agenda is clear as day: Billionaires first, everyday Americans last.”
Under Trump and JD Vance, the average American household has already spent an additional $4,200 on everyday essentials. It’s no wonder only 27% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, and more than 70% have a negative view of his economy. Nearly half of Americans say they feel stress about their finances amid high prices and just 24% believe Trump has the right priorities.
