Today, Donald Trump will travel to Tennessee for the second time in two weeks to promote the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for working families. Republicans’ reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans. Now — as his approval ratings sink to record lows and even his strongest supporters turn their backs on him — Trump is desperately trying to rally his base as the midterm elections approach and Republicans face defeat.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“As Republicans come to terms with their sinking chances in the midterms, Donald Trump is hitting the campaign trail in Tennessee — again — to make a last-ditch attempt to rally his fracturing base. Trump’s reckless agenda has raised prices on everyday essentials and made it even harder for working families to make ends meet — with no relief in sight. Meanwhile, Democrats are fighting to lower prices, and voters will remember who had their backs come November.”
REMINDER: Tennessee families have spent an additional $3,900 for everyday essentials under Trump and Vance, including $310 for groceries and $719 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in Tennessee is $3.94 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $5.99. Trump’s war with Iran has crushed Tennessee farmers who are facing record-high diesel and fertilizer prices, while ranchers struggle to stay afloat amid sky-high beef prices. Tennessee families have shelled out an additional $809 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. This comes on top of Trump and Republicans’ refusal to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, forcing more than 72,000 Tennesseans to drop their coverage.
