Today, Donald Trump will travel to Oklahoma to promote Republicans’ failed agenda that has made life unaffordable for working families. Trump’s reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything, from gas to groceries. Now — as his approval ratings continue to sink to record lows and even his strongest supporters turn their backs on him — Trump is desperately trying to rally his base and gaslight Americans on the state of the economy as the midterm elections approach.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump drove prices through the roof after launching his reckless tariffs and waging a deadly and costly war with Iran, leaving everyday Americans financially strapped and forced to dip into their savings to afford gas and groceries. Trump promised to lower costs on ‘Day One’ and end ‘forever wars,’ yet he has betrayed his supporters by plunging the country into countless foreign conflicts and hiking prices on everything — from healthcare and housing to utilities. Make no mistake: Americans will remember who turned their backs on them when they head to the polls this November.”
REMINDER: The average Oklahoma household has had to spend an additional $2,400 for everyday essentials under Trump and JD Vance, including $310 for groceries and $286 on housing. The average price for a gallon of gas in Oklahoma is $4.05 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $5.87. The average Oklahoma family has shelled out an additional $798 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. This is on top of higher healthcare costs in a state that is facing one of the highest rates of rural hospitals at risk of closure.
