Today, Donald Trump will travel to Arizona and Montana to tout the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for working families. Republicans’ reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans. Now, Trump and JD Vance are desperately trying to rally their fractured base as the midterm elections approach and Republicans face defeat.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump is desperately trying to rally his base as Republicans’ chances in the midterm elections dwindle and Americans express outrage at their price-hiking agenda. Despite promising to ‘defeat inflation’ and end forever wars, Trump and JD Vance launched reckless tariffs and waged a deadly and costly war with Iran, hiking costs on everything from groceries to gas to healthcare. Now, working families, farmers and ranchers, and small business owners are being pushed to the brink to afford everyday essentials. In less than three weeks, voters are going to hold Trump and Vance accountable and kick Republicans to the curb.”
REMINDER: Arizona families have spent an additional $4,000 for everyday essentials under Trump and Vance, while Montana families have spent an additional $3,700, including $310 for groceries. The average Arizona family has shelled out an additional $679 on gas alone, and Montana families have spent $965 extra since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. Trump’s war with Iran has also sent fertilizer prices skyrocketing, squeezing farmers already struggling with high costs during the height of harvest season. Trump’s reckless trade war has already devastated American farmers, locking them out of markets completely. This is on top of higher healthcare costs because of Republicans making the largest cut to Medicaid in history and scrapping the popular enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits.
