With Nine Days Until the Midterms, Trump Travels to Michigan to Stump for Failed Republican Agenda

Today, Donald Trump will travel to Michigan to promote the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for working families. Republicans’ reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans. On top of that, their Big Ugly Bill ripped healthcare away from families and children while shuttering healthcare facilities across the country, including in Michigan.

In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“Donald Trump and JD Vance launched reckless tariffs and waged a deadly, costly war with Iran that is driving prices through the roof and leaving working families scraping to make ends meet. Prices on everything from gas to groceries, diesel to fertilizer, and housing to healthcare are soaring — yet instead of lifting a finger to give families some breathing room, Trump and Vance are only doubling down. In just over one week, voters will send a message to Trump and Vance that enough is enough, and send Republicans packing.”

REMINDER: Michigan families have spent an additional $4,700 on everyday essentials under Trump and Vance, including $310 for groceries and $863 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan is now $4.83 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $6.77. The average Michigan family has shelled out an additional $940 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. On top of that, experts estimate that at least 171,000 Michiganders will lose healthcare thanks to Trump and Republicans’ $1 trillion cut to Medicaid and their refusal to renew the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits.
