DNC on Trump Meeting With Putin After Midterm Elections
October 23, 2018
In response to Trump reportedly agreeing to meet with Vladimir Putin days after the midterm elections, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:
“Trump stood on the international stage and sided with Vladimir Putin over U.S. intelligence agencies. Trump has continued to downplay the Kremlin’s attack on our democracy in the 2016 election and has done nothing to prevent them from attacking us again. And now, to top things off, Trump has agreed to meet with Putin just days after our midterm elections.
“It is a sickening reality that the president of the United States refuses to put our democracy ahead of a foreign adversary or his own political interests — and Republicans have remained silent in the face of this growing threat. The only thing left to do is elect more Democrats who will hold them accountable.”
