DNC on Trump’s Attack on Civil Rights Law

DNC Chair and former head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division Tom Perez released the following statement in response to reports that the Trump administration is considering a far-reaching rollback of anti-discrimination rules:

“This rollback would be a disgrace to the Justice Department’s mission and our nation’s values. Under President Obama, we actually fought for the civil rights of all Americans. Now Donald Trump wants to take a hatchet to the rules that protect millions of Americans from discrimination in education, housing, employment, and other areas. It is an undeniable fact that systemic racism exists and will persist and grow if we fail to fight it. We cannot allow this administration to turn our federal government into an agent of discrimination, and we must uphold the rule of law and our values of equality and justice for all.”
