After the U.S. Department of Labor released the latest jobs and unemployment numbers, DNC Chair and former Labor Secretary Tom Perez issued the following statement:

“American workers have just endured the longest government shutdown in history, and Donald Trump has threatened to put them through that same pain all over again. Last year was the worst year for the stock market in a decade. Consumer confidence has fallen to an 18-month low. And the president continues to create chaos, uncertainty, and volatility across our economy.

“Trump inherited the market fundamentals that helped create the last decade of job growth, but he’s doing everything in his power to destroy them. Democrats will never stop fighting for American workers and an economy that works for everyone.”
