Taxpayers ‘Exasperated And Angry’ Over Shrinking Tax Refunds

Trump promised his tax law would benefit the middle class, and Republicans tried to sell their unpopular tax law by disguising its true impacts until after the midterm election. But now, average tax refunds are down nearly 17 percent, and many taxpayers owe more in taxes than ever.

Taxpayers are “exasperated and angry” after receiving tax refunds that are less than expected, or even having to owe additional taxes.

“I’m very frustrated and exasperated and angry that this government seems to have changed things for the worse considerably.” – California taxpayer

“My refund is one third of what I’m used to. My brother has never owed in his adult life and, oh, he owes this year.” – Michigan taxpayer

Now, Republicans are scrambling to defend their broken promises.
