Trump promised to replace the ACA with a plan that costs less and covers more, but he has failed to deliver. New data shows that costs continue to increase and more Americans are uninsured because of his sabotage.

New data shows out-of-pocket costs continue to rise for working families, outpacing rates of inflation and wage growth.

Kaiser Family Foundation: “Looking only at the health spending for which workers are responsible (their families’ premium contributions and cost-sharing payments), the average family spent $4,706 on premiums and $3,020 on cost-sharing, for a combined cost of $7,726 in 2018. This represents an 18% increase in the health costs borne by employees and their families from five years earlier ($6,571 in 2013), outpacing the 8% increase in inflation and a 12% increase in workers’ wages over the same period.”

More Americans are without health insurance, especially in GOP-led states that didn’t expand Medicaid. In 2017, the uninsured rate increased for the first time in several years.

Fierce Healthcare: “The uninsured rate went up in 2017 after several years of declines, and the trend particularly affected people in states that did not expand Medicaid, a new study shows. Researchers at the Urban Institute, a left-leaning think tank, found that 700,000 people became uninsured between 2016 and 2017 following several years of declines in the uninsured rate dating back to 2013.”
