Trump Thinks Testing Is ‘Overrated’
May 15, 2020
Yesterday, Trump said that testing is overrated and lamented that it was exposing his failures to contain the coronavirus. But a majority of Americans disagree and want more access to testing.
Trump said that testing is “frankly, overrated” and suggested if we stopped testing we would have fewer confirmed cases.
TRUMP: “Could be that testing’s, frankly, overrated. Maybe it is overrated.”
TRUMP: “When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing we would have very few cases.”
A majority of Americans disagree with Trump on testing. They say he’s not doing enough and we need more tests.
-
73% of Americans believe there are not enough tests available in the United States.
-
57% of Americans say the federal government is not doing enough to address the limited availability of testing.
-
61% of Americans say it’s the federal government’s responsibility to make sure there are enough coronavirus tests to safely reopen.
It’s no wonder a majority of Americans don’t trust Trump and disapprove of his handling of the coronavirus outbreak.
