DNC on U.S. Passing 6 Million COVID-19 Cases
August 31, 2020
DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the United States reached 6 million COVID-19 cases, more than any other country in the world:
“6 million cases. 183,000 dead. But God forbid Donald Trump take any responsibility. This president still has no plan to end this pandemic, no plan to contain the spikes we’re seeing across the country, no plan to rebuild our economy and put Americans back to work safely. We’re witnessing one of the worst failures of leadership in American history. Our economy is in recession; our nation is gripped by civil unrest over racial injustice and police brutality. And yet, Trump and Republicans spent their four-day convention congratulating themselves on a job well-done. What planet are they living on?
“Chaos is not leadership. Cruelty is not strength. We need proven leaders in the White House who will get the job done and help us build back better. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will act decisively to ensure the wide availability of free testing, develop a vaccine, bring an end to this pandemic, and revitalize our economy for a new era. This is a dark era for our nation, but on November 3, we begin a new era.”
