Ahead of Trump visit, DNC launches ads reaching Sanford voters highlighting his attacks on health care

Ad campaign will reach voters in the area surrounding his event with the facts about his efforts to gut coverage protections for preexisting conditions — even during the pandemic.

Ahead of Trump’s rally in Sanford today, the DNC is launching a new digital ad campaign highlighting Trump’s attacks on Floridians’ health care and his efforts to gut coverage protections for people with pre-existing conditions, even in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ads will reach voters in the area around Trump’s event in Seminole County through targeted Google display advertising and direct voters to the DNC’s spot, “Samantha,” which blasts Trump for his effort to rush a Supreme Court justice confirmation so he can strip away health care protections for more than 7.8 million Floridians with preexisting conditions.

“The reality of Trump’s failed COVID-19 response is going to greet him in Central Florida: Thousands of Floridians working in areas like hospitality and tourism have lost their jobs, coronavirus cases are spiking — and now, in the midst of the pandemic, he’s once again trying to gut coverage protections for Floridians with preexisting conditions,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Floridians won’t hear the truth from Trump, so we’re making sure they know the facts about his health care record — he’s spent years trying to spike costs and strip away coverage, and now he’s rushing through a Supreme Court nominee to try once again to overturn the Affordable Care Act. Floridians deserve a leader who will expand access to quality, affordable health care — not rip it away in the middle of a pandemic, and they’ll hold Trump accountable for his record.”
