President Joe Biden’s leadership on Afghanistan has garnered support across the country, including from our nation’s veterans. President Biden showed the leadership and courage to do what was right and finally bring the war in Afghanistan to an end after 20 years of putting American lives at risk and investing trillions of dollars.
Veterans from across the country overwhelmingly approve of President Biden’s decision to withdraw our troops and end the 20-year war in Afghanistan.
4,300 Veterans from Across the Country: “We the undersigned are resolute in our support of President Biden’s decision to end the war in Afghanistan.”
VoteVets Poll: “Veterans support the withdrawal by a whopping 63-24 percent margin. That is in-line with findings among registered voters, who support the withdrawal by a 65-22 percent margin, according to the poll.”
Veterans have voiced their support for President Biden’s decision and praised his “strong leadership” in refusing to pass this war on to another administration.
VoteVets Chair and Army Veteran John Stoltz: “I’ve been waiting 20 years for a
president to do that speech today. With such strong leadership…to see a president have so much strength to take on the entire establishment to do what he knew was right.”
U.S. Army Captain Dan Berschinski (Ret.): “I appreciated the president taking responsibility and I thought particularly stating the reasons why we needed to end this forever war and the reasons why this evacuation, this inevitable conclusion, has been the right thing to do despite the difficulty. He spoke the truth to the American people.”
Former U.S. Army Lieutenant General Mark Hertling: “I certainly agree that it was more than right to get out of Afghanistan at this time.”
Lieutenant General, U.S. Army, Retired Doug Lute: “I agree with the president’s decision. And I think he actually outlined the two cornerstones of his decision in his remarks just now”
Retired Major General Paul Eaton: “For lo so many years I have looked for a President with guts. A buck starts here kind of person. And now we get Joe Biden. Thank god for you Sir. Thank you for your strength and guts. You did the right thing. Well done Mister President. Great speech BTW.”
Marine Veteran, Rep. Jake Auchincloss: “Biden made the hard choice in Afghanistan, and the right one”
Former Army Ranger, Rep. Jason Crow: “We should take a moment to say we woke up this morning and the war in Afghanistan is over. After 20 years and countless lives, hundreds of thousands of Americans served, we wake up this morning and the war in Afghanistan is all but over. And that is an astonishing accomplishment by the president. He said he was going to do this and he did it. He kept his word, and many other presidents weren’t willing to do that.”
