Democratic Women Lead
Leading Our Communities Forward
Women were a critical force in sending President Biden and Vice President Harris to the White House and ensuring they had Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. For the upcoming election, we know women will once again be a critical voting bloc and mobilizing force for Democrats!
Democratic Women Lead is an initiative, created by the DNC and the DNC Women’s Caucus, to provide women with the resources to organize their communities in ways that work for them. Together, we will build Democratic women’s political power and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
WHAT WE’RE FIGHTING FOR
Reproductive Rights
After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Democrats have taken action to protect the right to make reproductive health care decisions. President Biden issued
multiple executive orders to safeguard access to reproductive health care like abortion and contraception, protect the privacy and security of patients and providers, and create a federal task force. President Biden, Vice President Harris, and White House officials met with state leaders, providers, and partners following Republican attacks on reproductive rights in states. The president revoked the global gag rule, which prohibited global health funding from going to organizations that provide abortion counseling or referrals.
Elevating Gender Equity
President Biden established the Gender Policy Council to advance gender equity and equality in both domestic and foreign policy development and implementation. President Biden has prioritized putting women in high-level positions, including nominating a record number of women to his Cabinet.
A Judiciary Reflecting America
President Biden appointed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the first Black female Supreme Court Justice. Additionally, about three-quarters of the federal judges confirmed under the Biden-Harris administration have been women.
Equality for ALL
Right after taking office, President Biden signed an executive order to prevent and combat discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation.
Prioritizing Protection
President Biden and Democrats’ American Rescue Plan directed nearly $1 billion for domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and services, including $49.5 million for diverse, community-based organizations that help survivors access the services and support they need.
Maternal Health Matters
The Biden-Harris administration has taken steps to address racial disparities in maternal health, including efforts to reduce complications and mortality in the year following birth.
