IN THE STATES: Dems Highlight GOP Assault on Americans’ Freedoms

In the states this week, as Republicans travel from Florida to Arizona to promote their ultra-MAGA agenda, the DNC blasted Mike Pence, Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Josh Hawley and others for their extreme efforts to ban abortion in every state, put children’s health at risk, overturn elections, and more.

Also this week, the DNC wrapped up its Defend Choice Week of Action. After kicking the weeek off with digital ads and a six-figure TV ad buy in states across the country on Republicans’ extreme plan to ban abortion in every state, Democrats continued to hold Republicans accountable for their efforts to roll back Americans’ freedom to make their own health care decisions:

On Thursday, House Republicans overwhelmingly voted against a bill that would not only protect access to birth control but also protect health care providers’ ability to provide it.

And earlier in the week, Republicans continued to vote against legislation to protect Americans’ freedoms, as 157 House Republicans voted against the Respect for Marriage Act, which would enshrine marriage equality in federal law, repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), and provide additional protections for same-sex and interracial marriage.
