Glenn Youngkin Tries to Hide His Position on Abortion
October 10, 2022
In case you missed it, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin appeared on CNN’s State of the Union this weekend where he once again tried to hide his extreme anti-choice agenda.
On CNN’s State of the Union, Youngkin dodged three consecutive times on whether he would back a six-week or earlier abortion ban in Virginia.
TAPPER: “So — but, if they brought a six-week one, you would support it?”
YOUNGKIN: “Well, they’re not going to bring a six-week bill.”
Youngkin may want to hide his extreme anti-choice positions, but his record speaks for itself. Youngkin has said he’d “happily and gleefully” sign “any bill” to restrict a woman’s ability to make her own health care decisions.
Washington Post: “‘Any bill that comes to my desk I will sign happily and gleefully in order to protect life,’ [Youngkin] said.”
Washington Post: “[Youngkin] characterized his proposed 15-week ban as the fallback and indicated that he would push for stricter limits if Republicans hold onto the House of Delegates and flip the state Senate in elections next year.”
And Youngkin continues to crisscross the country to boost out-of-touch Republicans who have extreme anti-choice agendas, including Kari Lake, Brian Kemp, and Tudor Dixon.
12 News: “Republican Candidate Kari Lake has said in the past she supports the 100-year-old ban on abortion.”
New York Times: “Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia signed one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation on Tuesday, effectively banning abortion after six weeks of pregnancy”
Michigan Advance: “Dixon opposes abortion for rape victims because there’s ‘healing through the baby’”
