Today’s MAGA Hot Mic honors fall on Bo Hines, the GOP nominee running in North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District. Hines proposes that victims of rape and incest go through “a community-level review process outside the jurisdiction of the federal government” to determine whether they are allowed to have an abortion.
You read that right. Bo Hines supports creating a panel of strangers to decide whether victims of rape or incest should be forced to carry their pregnancy to term.
New York Times: “Bo Hines, a former college quarterback who is running for a House seat in North Carolina, backs creating a panel that would decide whether to allow abortions in case of rape or incest. But he’s been vague about how it might work.”
Spectrum News: “Hines said he is against access to an abortion with exceptions for life of the mother and on an ‘individual basis.’”
News & Observer: “Republicans have a new answer to the abortion question, and it’s worse than a total ban… Hines said he wants victims of rape and incest seeking abortion to go through ‘a community-level review process outside the jurisdiction of the federal government.’”
Health care decisions should be decided between a woman and her doctor – not a panel of strangers. With only four days left until the midterm elections, Republicans continue to remind the American people that protecting reproductive freedom is on the ballot next Tuesday.
