While Floridians Struggle with Skyrocketing Health Care Costs, DeSantis Proposal Falls Flat
January 12, 2023
After years of sitting on his hands while Florida families and seniors suffer from some of the highest health care costs in the country, Ron DeSantis offered Floridians a series of measures that wouldn’t provide families the relief they need. Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, however, the Inflation Reduction Act will lower prescription drug costs – but DeSantis’ opposed the law.
Under DeSantis, Floridians are struggling with some of the highest health care costs in the country.

If it were up to DeSantis, Florida wouldn’t benefit from provisions to lower prescription drug costs thanks to Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act.
Forbes: “Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) slams Inflation Reduction Act, says it is ‘is going to increase inflation and it is not designed to serve the best interests of the average American.’”
Instead of focusing on measures that will actually lower costs for Floridians, DeSantis has spent his energy spouting dangerous rhetoric on lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines and signaling his plan to prosecute health care providers.
Washington Post: “Early in the pandemic, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis repeatedly praised President Donald Trump for the expedited development and rollout of a coronavirus vaccine. The governor’s office pushed for $480 million in pandemic resources, including media campaigns promoting the shots, according to state budget documents. And DeSantis, a Republican, even lauded the Biden administration for helping to expand access to vaccines.”
