DNC Intervenes to Keep Voting Accessible in Wisconsin
February 13, 2023
The Democratic National Committee today announced that it is taking action to challenge a recent lawsuit that attempts to significantly curtail the use of alternate voting sites in Wisconsin. The DNC is acting to ensure that Wisconsinites maintain sufficient, accessible locations to cast their ballots.
This lawsuit is the latest attempt in a sustained effort by conservative groups in Wisconsin to chip away at the laws intended to allow voters to more easily cast their ballots in the state. Prior to filing this lawsuit, the very same group sued to eliminate the use of drop boxes across the state, making it more difficult for people to cast their ballots.
“This lawsuit is yet another attempt by conservative groups in Wisconsin to make it harder for eligible voters to cast their ballots – and we’re fighting back. Voting should be easy and accessible, and the DNC will continue using every resource at our disposal to ensure that is the case,” said DNC States Communications Director Brooke Goren.
