Francis Suarez kicked off his presidential campaign by announcing his support for a national abortion ban — making him the latest MAGA Republican to fall in line behind the 2024 GOP field’s all-out war on women’s freedom to make their own health care decisions.

Suarez expressed support on the first day of his presidential campaign for banning abortion nationwide. 

Wall Street Journal: “The mayor said he would support a national ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of mother.”

A national abortion ban is the definitive litmus test of the 2024 GOP primary — and MAGA Republicans are piling on one another to support one. 

The Messenger: Would you sign a six week abortion ban or not?

Trump: “I’m looking at all [options].”

DeSantis: “Dobbs returned the issue to the elected representatives of the people. And so I think that there’s, there’s role for both the federal and the states.”

Wolf Blitzer, CNN: “Would you support a six-week ban nationwide?”

Pence: “Well, of course. Look — I’m pro-life. I don’t apologize for it. I believe that we’ve got to do everything in our power to restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law. And I’d support federal legislation in that regard if I was in the Congress or had any other job here in town.”

MSNBC: “Is six weeks the right mile marker?”

Scott: “The people have decided that their elected leaders have the opportunity to do so, so I say absolutely. … If I were president of the United States, I would literally sign the most conservative pro-life legislation that they can get through Congress.”

Meg Kinnard, AP: “‘Yes of course I would sign’ federal ban, Haley says. 

On NH, which questioner calls ‘overwhelmingly pro-choice,’ she adds: 

‘I can’t suddenly change my pro-life position bc I’m campaigning in NH … It’s incredibly personal & I’m going to treat it w/ the respect it deserves.’”
