DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement after Ron DeSantis echoed Donald Trump’s Islamophobic rhetoric: 

“Just one day after Donald Trump rolled out his plan for a more extreme Muslim ban, Ron DeSantis is parroting the same Islamophobic rhetoric that has fanned the flames of hate and contributed to violence against the Muslim community. Make no mistake, DeSantis is doubling down on this extremism in a desperate attempt to revive his floundering campaign and win over the extreme MAGA base. The split screen speaks for itself: while MAGA Republicans continue to use this tragedy to score cheap political points, President Biden is meeting with the families affected by these horrific acts of terrorism and showing the world that the United States will always stand with Israel.”
