New reporting reveals that JD Vance postponed a scheduled town hall with CBS News as Americans express outrage and frustration with Donald Trump and Vance’s war with Iran. Vance — who has been largely silent, including on social media, since the war began — owes the American people answers. 

Here are four issues the American people deserve answers to: 

Trump and Vance’s War With Iran 

• Vance has flipped on his anti-interventionist views, after repeatedly promising on the campaign trail that he and Trump were the “pro-peace” candidates, and assuring voters, “Our interest very much is in not going to war with Iran. It would be a huge distraction of resources. It would be massively expensive to our country.”
• Vance has also said on multiple occasions that “Donald Trump is the candidate of peace.” 
• Meanwhile, six U.S. service members have already died as a result of Trump’s war, as American taxpayers foot the bill, and U.S. Central Command is reportedly estimating the war will continue through September — despite Trump’s initial four-to-five week timeframe. 

The Trump-Vance Economy 

• Under the Trump-Vance economy, everyday Americans are struggling to afford basic goods like groceries, gas, and health care, as inflation remains high and Trump doubles down on his tariffs. 
• The job market has continued to take a nosedive, and the share of workers who are working multiple jobs reached its highest point since 2000. 
• According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gasoline has risen to $3.32 nationwide.
• Now, Vance is pushing back the timeline on the economy, again asking Americans to be patient and saying, despite Trump’s promise to lower prices on Day One, “there was no way it was ever going to happen.” 

The Missing Epstein Files 

• Nearly three months after the Department of Justice was mandated to release all of the Epstein Files, the Trump-Vance administration has still not released millions of the 6 million documents in the DOJ’s files. 
• New reporting found that 40,000 files appeared to be missing from documents posted to the DOJ’s website, including those that include sexual assault allegations against Trump.
• REMINDER: Vance said on the campaign trail that “we need to release the Epstein list…that is an important thing.” 

The One, Big Beautiful Bill’s Cuts to Health Care

• Trump and Vance’s Big Ugly Bill gutted Americans’ health care, including cutting $1 TRILLION from Medicaid
• Trump and Vance’s cuts to Medicaid put over 300 rural hospitals at risk of shuttering, including 11 hospitals “at risk” of closure in Ohio and 35 hospitals in Kentucky. 
• Vance has touted the bill’s so-called “Rural Health Transformation Program,” yet the fund only offsets a little over one-third of the estimated loss of federal Medicaid funding in rural areas. The rural health fund only provides temporary funding, while the bill simultaneously provides PERMANENT tax cuts to the rich.
