NEW DATA: Trump Pushes Prices Even Higher

New economic data released today shows that Donald Trump’s reckless policies continue to jack up prices for everyday Americans. Producer prices are up 3.4% from a year ago — its largest increase in over a year and above expectations. Core PPI also climbed 3.5% year over year, exceeding forecasts as well.

Meanwhile, Trump’s unpopular war of choice with Iran is driving up global oil prices, causing gas and diesel prices to skyrocket for Americans at home. According to AAA, today the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.84 per gallon nationwide amid the sharpest 20-day spike since Hurricane Katrina over 20 years ago.

PCE inflation is up nearly 3% compared to a year ago, and U.S. mortgage rates are spiking.

In response, DNC Spokesperson Jaelin O’Halloran released the following statement:

“Donald Trump is making the economy unbearable for working families. Everyday Americans are getting slapped with even higher prices while it gets harder to find a full-time, good-paying job — and yet Trump continues to double down on his policies that got us here. Americans don’t want to be on the hook for his reckless tariffs or war of choice with Iran, and they’re tired of being sold out while billionaires get handouts. Enough is enough.”

It’s no wonder Trump’s approval ratings remain deeply underwater on the issues of the economy (-19), trade (-18), and inflation (-24). Only a quarter of Americans believe that Trump and Republicans are focused on lowering the cost of living and inflation, even though most Americans say that is among their top concerns.
