Trump Wants Billionaires to Be “Tremendously Successful” As Americans Struggle To Make Ends Meet Under His Watch

According to a new report, Trump’s agenda has raised costs on American families by $2,072 to $3,569

One year after Donald Trump signed his “One, Big Beautiful Bill” into law — the largest wealth transfer in history from everyday Americans to the top 1% — Trump said today that he wants billionaires “to be tremendously successful” as working families struggle to make ends meet in his economy.

REMINDER: In May, Trump told Americans he doesn’t care about their financial situations.

Trump and Republicans’ agenda has already raised costs on the average family by at least $2,000, while giving handouts to billionaires. Another report found that, by the end of this year, the GOP agenda will cost typical Americans hundreds of dollars, while the top 0.1% will receive a tax break of nearly $200,000.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“Donald Trump’s priorities are crystal clear: billionaires and big corporations over working families. Everyday Americans are struggling to make ends meet as Trump and Republicans’ agenda jacks up costs on everything from groceries to gas to healthcare while slashing programs they depend on. Instead of making life better for working families, Trump is focused on making himself and his family richer and securing tax breaks for his wealthy donors.”

As billionaires get even richer under Trump, everyday Americans are worse off in his economy as prices continue to skyrocket and pessimism about finding a job is at a near-all-time high. Inflation rose to the highest point in three years, and the Personal Savings Rate, which measures Americans’ disposable income, dropped to 3% last month, one of the lowest readings since the Great Recession as Americans turn to their savings and credit to keep up with high prices.
