Trump’s White House ballroom is expected to cost taxpayers at least $352 million as nearly 80% of Americans believe Trump is not focused enough on the cost of living
As Donald Trump’s deadly and costly war with Iran rages on and his economy continues to tank, Trump spent his morning giving a tour of the construction sites for his White House ballroom and helipad. Trump’s construction projects are estimated to cost at least $900 million and taxpayers are expected to cover the majority of the costs.
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s war with Iran is raging on and his economy is tanking, and what did he spend his morning doing? Flaunting his White House construction projects and pretending to be back on reality TV. Working families are struggling with high prices while Trump forces them to foot billions of dollars to pay for his war and his gilded construction projects. Trump’s priorities are clear as day: His self-serving agenda comes first, while everyday Americans are left to fend for themselves.”
The average household has had to spend more than $3,500 extra since Trump took office and the most recent jobs report showed that the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July.
It’s no wonder Trump’s approval rating this week fell to a bleak 33% – the lowest point of his entire presidency – as a majority of voters say they are financially worse off since Trump returned to office, including nearly one in four Republicans.
