Republicans have flipped zero.
Last night, Democrat Brandon Dukes won the special election for Pennsylvania House District 12 — a nearly 20-point swing from 2024. With this upset victory, Democrats have now flipped 31 state legislative seats since the beginning of 2025. Republicans have flipped zero.
In response to Brandon Dukes’ victory, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Last night, Brandon Dukes swung this seat by nearly 20 points from 2024 and showed the nation that when Democrats organize everywhere, we can win anywhere. His campaign showed up in every community throughout this district and brought people together around a commonsense vision for lowering costs, making healthcare more affordable, supporting public education and job training programs, and investing in infrastructure. After flipping 31 state legislative seats from red to blue, Democrats will continue to channel this on-the-ground momentum into organizing everywhere, fighting for every vote, making the investments necessary to win races up and down the ballot, and delivering relief to working families across America.”
DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta added the following:
“Brandon Dukes’ victory is a political shockwave. In a district Donald Trump carried by 18 points, voters rejected Republican chaos and chose Brandon’s practical, neighbor-first leadership. This win proves that Democrats can and have won absolutely anywhere, when we show up and fight for working families. I couldn’t be prouder of Brandon, his campaign, and every voter who made their voice heard. Something special is happening here in Pennsylvania.”
REMINDER: Democrats have won or overperformed in nearly 90% of key elections since Donald Trump took office. The average Democratic overperformance in these elections is around a whopping 14 points.
