Today, Donald Trump will travel to Florida to promote the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for working families. Republicans’ reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans. Buyers and renters are struggling to afford housing as mortgage rates soar and rent continues to be unaffordable. On top of that, their Big Ugly Bill ripped healthcare away from families and children while shuttering healthcare facilities across the country, including in Florida.
Now, during hurricane season in Florida, Trump is gutting disaster aid for Floridians, fulfilling one of Trump’s early promises to abolish the Federal Emergency Management Agency and placing Floridians in harm’s way.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and JD Vance crashed the economy with their reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran — and voters aren’t buying their eleventh-hour pleas for ‘another chance.’ Working families are dipping into their savings or going into debt to fill up at the pump, buy groceries, and put a roof over their heads — and Trump and Vance don’t care. In just over a week, voters are going to kick Republicans to the curb and send a message to Trump that they are tired of his price-spiking agenda that has left them in the dust.”
REMINDER: Florida families have spent an additional $4,200 on everyday essentials under Trump and JD Vance, including $310 for groceries and $863 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in Florida is $4.13 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $6.10. Florida families have shelled out an additional $816 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. On top of that, more than 450,000 Floridians have lost healthcare thanks to Trump and Republicans’ $1 trillion cut to Medicaid and their refusal to renew the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits.
