At a midterm rally in Georgia yesterday, while talking about high prices in his economy, Donald Trump admitted he doesn’t care about Americans who criticize him for driving up gas prices, saying, “I can see the fake headlines: ‘President Trump is talking about all the money they’re making while people are suffering at the pump’… I don’t give a damn… We’re making a freaking fortune.”
Because of Trump and JD Vance’s deadly and costly war with Iran, the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.28 and $6.34 for diesel. Americans have shelled out an additional $140 billion on gas and diesel since Trump and Vance started their war, and the average price of gas has been above $4 per gallon for 169 days this year — more than any year on record. Trump’s own administration forecast that gas prices will continue rising and diesel prices will remain above $4 per gallon until at least 2028. Meanwhile, farmers are on track to spend an additional $2.4 billion on diesel alone during this year’s planting and harvest seasons compared to last year.
In response, DNC Spokesperson Jaelin O’Halloran released the following statement:
“Donald Trump doesn’t care about everyday Americans struggling to get by in his economy. Because of Trump’s reckless tariffs and war with Iran, prices on everything from gas and diesel to fertilizer and groceries are skyrocketing. Working families and farmers are pinching pennies just to make ends meet — but Trump doesn’t ‘give a damn.’ Meanwhile, Trump, his kids, and his cabinet are lining their pockets by selling access to the White House. Voters are outraged and are ready to deliver a major defeat to Republicans in the midterms.”
