With Less Than One Week Until the Midterms, Vance Travels to North Carolina to Peddle the Failed Republican Agenda

Today, JD Vance will travel to North Carolina — less than a week after Donald Trump visited the state — to promote the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for working families. Trump and Vance’s reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans. On top of that, their Big Ugly Bill ripped healthcare away from families and children while putting healthcare facilities across the country at risk of closing, including in North Carolina.

In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“It’s less than a week until Election Day, and JD Vance and Donald Trump are scrambling for votes by begging Americans to ‘give [them] another chance.’ Because of Trump and Vance, working families are drowning under the weight of skyrocketing costs for gas, groceries, and healthcare as their paychecks get eaten up by high prices. Everyday Americans are tired of paying more while Trump and Vance hand out special favors and massive tax cuts to the wealthy and well-connected, and voters will make their voices heard next week.”

REMINDER: Under Trump and Vance, North Carolina families have spent an additional $3,400 on everyday essentials, including $310 on groceries and $716 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in North Carolina is now $3.44, and diesel is $5.54. The average family in North Carolina has already shelled out an additional $884 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. Trump’s war with Iran has also sent fertilizer prices skyrocketing, squeezing farmers who are already struggling with high costs during the height of harvest season.

Trump and Republicans also refused to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, causing healthcare premiums to skyrocket and forcing over 200,000 North Carolinians to lose their insurance. On top of that, more than 250,000 North Carolinians could lose healthcare coverage as a result of Trump and Republicans’ $1 trillion cut to Medicaid.
