Today, Donald Trump will travel to Florida, one week after his last trip to the state, to promote the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for everyday Americans. Republicans’ reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, while working families struggle to afford housing as mortgage rates and rent soar. On top of that, their Big Ugly Bill ripped healthcare away from families and children while shuttering healthcare facilities across the country, including in Florida.
Now, during hurricane season, Trump is gutting disaster aid for Floridians, fulfilling one of Trump’s early promises to abolish the Federal Emergency Management Agency and placing Floridians in harm’s way.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“With only days to go, Donald Trump and JD Vance are making a desperate last-ditch attempt to shore up their base as their chances in the midterms continue to tank. But the reality is that working families are just barely treading water because Trump and Vance launched reckless tariffs and a war of choice with Iran that hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries as healthcare costs soar. Voters are sick and tired of being sold out and are ready to show up in droves at the ballot box to send Republicans a message.”
REMINDER: Florida families have spent an additional $4,200 on everyday essentials under Trump and JD Vance, including $310 for groceries and $863 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in Florida is $3.91 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $6.02. Florida families have shelled out an additional $816 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. On top of that, more than 450,000 Floridians have lost healthcare thanks to Trump and Republicans’ $1 trillion cut to Medicaid and their refusal to renew the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits.
