In response to Gina Hinojosa’s victory in Texas’ gubernatorial election, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Congratulations to my friend Gina Hinojosa, the Texas Democratic Party, and all of the organizers across the state who did the work to flip this seat from red to blue and make history by electing a Texas Democrat to the governor’s office for the first time since 1990. As a native Texan, former school board president, and accomplished state legislator, Gina has consistently served her neighbors and delivered for working families. As governor, she will put Texans first while fighting to lower grocery and utility costs, make housing and healthcare more affordable, invest in public education, support rural communities, root out corruption, and champion workers throughout the Lone Star State.”
