DNC Statement on 5th Anniversary of Sikh Temple Shooting In Wisconsin
August 5, 2017
On the 5th Anniversary of the Oak Creek Shooting, DNC Deputy Communications Director Sabrina Singh released the following statement:
“Five years after the tragic shooting in Oak Creek, we continue to remember and honor the innocent lives of those who were senselessly killed due to gun violence and intolerance. Far too many Sikh Americans have been wrongfully subjected to discrimination and hate crimes, and this incident is just another horrific example of intolerance and violence against Sikhs.
“On this solemn day we must recommit ourselves to combatting hate by building an understanding across different cultures and faiths. The diversity of our faiths and the freedom to practice them are what make the United States strong and prosperous. The Democratic Party is committed to promoting equality for all and working to stop tragedies like this from ever occurring again.”
