GOP Tax Push Falls Into Chaos
October 24, 2017
This morning Senator Corker and Trump got into a feud after Corker said he hoped Trump would stay out of the tax debate.
CORKER: “What I hope is going to happen is the president will leave this effort, if you will, to the tax-writing committees, let them do their work and not begin taking things off the table that ought to be debated in these committees at the proper time.”
TRUMP: “Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn't get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts….”
Republicans can’t govern and, like everything else they try to do, their tax push is quickly falling into chaos.
Bloomberg: “The White House’s inconsistent tax messages are keeping everyone guessing”
Washington Post: “Trump’s promises narrow options on tax bill”
New York Times: “Cutting taxes is hard. Trump is making it harder.”
Needless to say, today’s Senate policy lunch should be fun.
CNN: “President Donald Trump and Capitol Hill Republicans are giving it another whirl — because they've got no other choice.”
