DNC Southern Press Secretary Francisco Pelayo released the following statement on Mike Pence’s visit to Georgia today:

“Mike Pence continues his tour to shamelessly push a tax scam that gives massive corporations and the 1% a tax break at the expense of hardworking Americans and middle-class families. Under the Trump-GOP tax plan, the top 1% of Georgia taxpayers are set to receive 34% of the tax cuts in 2018. And by 2027, the bill is projected to raise taxes on lower and middle-income Georgians, while the top 1% of income earners would get a large tax cut. And thanks to this bill, over one million Georgia residents are now limited in their ability to use the state and local tax deduction, since the bill limits that deduction to up to $10,000 per year.

“Despite the talking points delivered by Pence today in Atlanta, the Trump-GOP tax bill is clearly a bad deal for Georgians and they’ll make their voices heard when they head to the polls this year. Mike Pence should go back to Washington and join Democrats in fighting for solutions that make it easier for hard-working American families to get ahead, not harder.”
