DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement in support of those marching on Tax Day:

“The Democratic Party stands with the thousands of Americans marching for tax fairness across the country today. Once again, the American people are showing that organizing and voting are the best ways to affect change and hold our elected leaders accountable.

“The Trump tax law was written by Republicans for their donors and gives massive windfalls to Wall Street, big corporations, and the wealthiest individuals. In fact, more than 80% of its benefits by 2027 will go to the top 1%. And all of this comes at the expense of American workers.

“It’s no secret why a majority of Americans continue to oppose the Trump tax. They can see through the GOP’s lies and are hungry for real leadership in Washington that will stand up for middle-class families. Democrats will continue to fight for tax fairness and greater economic opportunities for all Americans, not just those at the top.”
