DNC Midwest Press Secretary Mandy McClure released the following statement following reports that Indiana health insurers plan to raise premium rates in the individual market by as much as 10.2% in 2019:

“Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress should be ashamed that their partisan-fueled attacks on the American health care system are once again threatening to make it harder for Hoosier families to access the quality care they deserve. Unsurprisingly, insurers cited Republicans’ health care sabotage in explaining their proposals, which could leave Indiana families facing double-digit rate increases. Time and time again, Trump and Republicans have sabotaged American health care for their own political gain, only to leave Hoosier families to foot the bill.

“While Trump and the GOP give tax breaks away to the top 1% and try to undermine the Affordable Care Act, Democrats will continue working to make health care accessible to every family. Quality, affordable health care should be a right for all Americans, not a privilege for the wealthy few, and Indiana voters will hold Republicans accountable this November.”
