After a federal judge ruled against Governor Bevin’s Medicaid work requirements, DNC Deputy Communications Director Sabrina Singh released the following statement:

“Today a federal judge rightfully rejected Republican efforts to undermine health care coverage for Kentuckians who can least afford it. While Governor Bevin is so blinded by partisanship that he’s threatened to take health care away from 400,000 Kentuckians if the courts don’t rule his way, Democrats are working every day to ensure that every American has access to comprehensive, affordable health care.

“Medicaid plays a key role in combating the opioid crisis by providing access to treatment. We urge Governor Bevin to join with Democrats to find meaningful solutions to this and other health problems plaguing Kentucky, rather than holding the health care of his constituents hostage in order to score political points.”
