DNC on Donald Trump’s Visit to Pennsylvania
August 2, 2018
Ahead of Donald Trump’s rally for Lou Barletta today in Wilkes-Barre, DNC Northeast Press Secretary Elizabeth Renda released the following statement:
“You don’t need an ID to buy groceries, and you don’t need to look far to see that neither Donald Trump or his lapdog Lou Barletta will ever fight for working Pennsylvania families. If Barletta thinks a visit from Trump will save his desperate campaign, he has even more to learn about Pennsylvania values than we thought. Trump’s attempts to prop up his lapdog today won’t change the fact that Barletta voted to gut Pennsylvania families’ access to health care, sold out working Pennsylvanians in favor of a tax scam that benefits the wealthiest among us at the expense of middle-class families, or that he supported a shameful family separation policy that ripped children from their parents’ arms and put them in cages. As Barletta takes the stage with a president who now says ‘collusion is not a crime,’ who continues to sabotage America’s health care system, and who has turned his back on working Americans at every turn, Barletta is only proving once again that he would refuse to stand up to the Trump administration to defend Pennsylvania values in the Senate.
“Bob Casey is working to improve the lives of Pennsylvania’s working families by protecting and strengthening our health care and fighting for the state’s workers. This fall, voters will have a clear choice between a senator who will serve Republicans’ dangerous, partisan agenda, and one who will stand up for Pennsylvania.”
