Cleveland – Today at 12:30 pm, Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz will address the Cleveland City Club.
Below please find an excerpt as prepared for delivery from DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s remarks:
“And you can’t appeal to women when you want to take a woman’s health care options out of her hands.
“But Rand Paul and other Republicans have failed to learn that they have a bigger problem than just the tone of their message. The real problem is the content of that message – their policies and their actions.
“Remember Todd Akin – Mr. ‘legitimate rape’ and how a woman’s body can ‘shut that whole thing down’?
“Sure, we can laugh at his poor understanding of biology – but every Republican running for President still agrees with him about denying a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions.
“Days after Jeb Bush suggested we were spending too much on women’s health, Bush actually boasted during the debate about defunding women’s health care.
“Marco Rubio said last night – and reiterated on CNN this morning – that he wants to ban all abortions – with no exceptions for rape or incest.
“Then, the morning after a Republican audience applauded Donald Trump’s disgusting, misogynistic comments, Walker turned down not one, but two chances to condemn Trump’s comments.
“Women around the country are watching and disagree with policies that fail to respect our right to make our own decisions. We will be heard, and we will vote.”
