Washington, D.C. – As the DNC moves into the general election phase of the 2016 campaign, new Chair Donna Brazile today announced the departures of Amy Dacey, Luis Miranda, and Brad Marshall.

“In order to make history, the Democratic Party depends on the tireless work of everyday drum majors for justice, fairness, and equality. We're so grateful for the vision and labor of Amy Dacey, who has been Executive Director and CEO for over two years, helping the party pay down over $20 million in debt and leading the effort to restructure and expand the organization in preparation for the 2016 election. We are grateful that Amy has agreed to help the Party during this time of transition.”

“As Communications Director, Luis has helped hold Republican candidates’ feet to the fire, while ensuring Democrats nationwide articulate a clear contrast between the two parties,” said Brazile.

“CFO Brad Marshall has worked at the DNC for over 20 years and his service on behalf of Democrats is well-known and respected,” said Brazile.

“Thanks in part to the hard work of Amy, Luis, and Brad, the Democratic Party has adopted the most progressive platform in history, has put itself in financial position to win in November, and has begun the important work of investing in state party partnerships. I’m so grateful for their commitment to this cause, and I wish them continued success in the next chapter of their career.”

Like incoming chairs before her, Brazile is focused on building out a team to help elect Democrats across the country.

“This election is the most important of my lifetime, and the DNC will continue to recruit top talent to help lead the fight to elect Hillary Clinton and Democrats across the country,” said Brazile. “I am committed to adding to our team of skilled professionals who will make sure that Donald Trump is held accountable for his reckless rhetoric and harmful policies.”

Brazile also announced that she is appointing a transition team to help position the party for the general election and prepare for the permanent party chair. Tom McMahon, who served as Executive Director under then-Chair Howard Dean, and who led the party’s efforts to develop and operationalize the 50-State Strategy, will lead the transition team.

“I am delighted that Tom is returning home to the DNC to lead our transition,” said Brazile. “He brings with him a wealth of institutional knowledge and I look forward to having him by my side as we move toward November.”

Brandon Davis, who joined the DNC in June as Chief of Staff, will continue in that position and will now oversee all aspects of the committee’s general election efforts to elect Hillary Clinton and Democrats across the country.

Chair Brazile said of Davis, “Over the past two months, Brandon’s sound judgment and strategic thinking has proved indispensable to the DNC. I am grateful that he will continue to run the day-to-day operations of the DNC as we look to elect Democrats up-and-down the ticket.”

Brazile also announced that veteran Democratic strategist Doug Thornell will join the DNC as a Senior Advisor on an interim basis. Thornell currently serves as a Managing Director in the Washington office of the public affairs and political consulting firm SKDKnickerbocker.

“I am thrilled that Doug will be helping with the transition of the senior leadership of the DNC,” Brazile said. “He is a trusted and respected strategist, and will provide a steady hand as we pivot to the general election.”
