NEW: Trump Approval Falls to Lowest Point of His Presidency as Prices Remain at Historic Highs

Nearly 80% of Americans believe Trump is not focused enough on lowering prices

Donald Trump’s reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran continue to jack up prices for working families, and now —  according to new pollingTrump’s approval rating is at a dismal 33%, the lowest of his second term and tied with the lowest level of his first term.

It’s no wonder why: Since Trump took office, the average household has spent more than $3,500 in additional costs, including more than $500 on gas since Trump started his war with Iran. On top of that, the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, and over the last three months, the economy has created about 200,000 fewer jobs than expected. Meanwhile, as sky-high housing prices and mortgage rates continue to squeeze Americans, data released today shows high building costs have exacerbated the housing shortage: construction of homes was 12.4% lower in July compared to June and 13.5% lower than last year, while 9.1% fewer homes were fully built.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“It’s no wonder Donald Trump’s approval has gone down the drain. Because of his reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran, prices on everything from groceries to gas to housing are at record highs, and Trump is sitting on his hands. While working families shoulder the consequences of his disastrous agenda, Trump continues to ignore Americans’ concerns and even admitted he will ‘never apologize’ for raising prices. Voters are fed up with Trump prioritizing his own self-enrichment, and they are ready to hold Trump and Republicans accountable in November.”

Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to Trump’s agenda that continues to drive up prices. Trump’s net approval for his reckless tariffs is underwater by 29 points, while support for Trump’s war is underwater by nearly 20 points. Just this week, Trump said he is “not in a hurry” to end the war and last week said he would “never apologize” for higher prices from the war.
